Dead Or Alive Hentai Quiz

"Average."

date: January 26, 2006

It's been done :P
I've never heard of Dead or Alive... ever, so the inclusion of the answers on your myspace were needed for those who haven't heard of the subject for this quiz. Reasonably good material, but nothing too new or interesting in its class, in my opinion.

Average stuff, could have used some mixing up, it was all the same, yo. (No right click + play... damn you're sneaky).

Author's Response:

Yo Marcus.

Oh I know it's average and has been done, this was a joke submission.

Dead Or Alive's some fighting game where nearly all the character's are female and they all have (overly)large breasts, which are over-exaggeratedly bouncy. I've never played the game myself, but I'm aware of it's existance.

Yah good graphics for teh hentai, but yah just same old, same old, + the fact that it's boring hentai.

Yah I could have made this better, but I never really bothered with it to be honest, this was only submitted for the joke of the end picture and to get quite a few people pissed off about it O;-)>

Yah, no right click play of course, can't have all those 13 year olds getting their hentai so easily O;-P>

Thanks for the review Marcus

"OH MA GAWD THERE IS SOUND >:O"

date: January 26, 2006

Haha, even though it was pretty annoying music, it was there. Which is a good move XD haha. The sound effect for hitting the purple skears was good, and I finished up with over 100,000 in the end after the bonus rounds - which were better than last time.
Overall, it's the same cruddy style of game as the others, and basically no changes have been made to it apart from the music.
Certainly needed to get rid of that purple font, increase the quality of the graphics, etc.

"No better."

date: January 26, 2006

This game is damn-near identical to the first 'mini skears' game. In argument, you could say that you changed the in-game layout a bit and gave the random numbers some form of discription and put them in the corners of the screen, but apart from that this game is still very boring. Shitty graphics, the same old font (which was no good to begin with), no audio and borderline gameplay. This game really needed some snazzing up... the bonus rounds gave me no pleasure at all - they were just two more levels to this sub-par game.

"*snore*"

submission: MS01: Mini Skears
date: January 26, 2006

Yeh, touch the purple, avoid the red... very average idea to begin with, and the only thing that saved this game from being utterly crap was the little multiplier, which simply made you want to avoid leaving a lengthy gap between when you hit the next purple square.
This game was very basic, with dodgey in-game instructions (must have taken around 3 minutes to make everything but the actionscripting), along with no sound and very bad graphics.
The scoring system was decent, but it was far too plain to be considered anywhere near 'good'.

"Criticism? HEADS UP! Haha"

submission: letters (demo)
date: January 26, 2006

In it's current form, it stinks. Before playing this I was thinking "why hasn't he made the full version yet?". After playing it's plain to see why. Definately not worth expanding on, as it's already been done in a far more enjoyable way, many times.

Graphics were shit for this type of game - the instructions were in Comic Sans or something else generic like that for a start. And secondly, the letters were in such a whacky font that you had to look at them for far too long before realising what they actually were - this was not clear enough at all, which is interesting, because the whole game was so blank you'd think everything was clear.

Anyways, gameplay was reasonable for a demo, as it explained all the rules very well and split it into 4 levels that were achievable. There was no audio, but this was reasonably short, so, blergh.

All in all, very crummy indeed. I give a 1/10 for presentation... you really, really could have improved the visuals and gameplay in this with relative ease.

NSG001: 4 Bats, 1 Ball

"Very average."

date: January 26, 2006

Although pretty addictive, like your last game, this wasn't all that crash hot in my opinion. It was pretty fun to play after about 3 games, as once again strategy came into it once you fully understood the controls.
The graphics were dull and simplistic - couldn't you atleast have coloured in the paddles and ball!? - there was no audio and it got boring after a couple of minutes.

However, I did enjoy playing this game for a short while, and I managed to ruffle up a score of 46 by the end of it. At the beginning I felt that if I just kept the ball moving at an even pace which I could easily control for the entire 30 seconds, I'd get a good score - the 'out' feature was very good - and this proved to be a formidable strategy untill I got the hang of handling the X and Y axis in unison.
If you want to get into detail, the only thing you need to do in this game is move the mouse in a circular motion that agrees with the direction of the ball. This way, as you are aiming the paddle that the ball is coming to, you can prepare the paddle on the other axis for the next shot, and so it goes around in a circle. I'm sure you're aware of this, but I just thought it was nice to know that the motion could be tamed through a simple technique.
This did, however, jeopardize the gameplay of the game, as it then only became a matter of circling the mouse again and again when playing.

As I said, the graphics were dull, and after a few rounds, the game becomes so, too. Pretty good actionscripting, but no match for your first game :P

The level of detail you got into when telling me about your thoughts re: ball hitting was amazing.

Overall, another brilliant review.

As this is your last review, I just wanna thank you for all your excellent reviews. All of them were fun to read and your scores seem really realistic and sensibly judged.

I always like as much criticism as possible, when it's constructive.

Dodging Circles

"Man, that was fun..."

submission: Dodging Circles
date: January 26, 2006

On the technical side of things, this is junk. :) But after you start playing for a while and come to appreciate the different aspects of the game, and the effort you've put in to it, you can play it for ages! I personally didn't mind the fact that it had crappy graphics and no sound right from the get-go, as I prefer a simplistic game with no distractions compared to a visually stunning one that will detach your focus from the main point of the game - however this could have been a clever way to make the game harder :P haha.

Overall, I found it to be very enjoyable to play, and after around 10 games I was finding it very difficult to get to a score of beyond 1,100, as can be seen by my recently submitted scores.

The graphics were indeed horrific, as this game contained a 4 lined border, a moving spot of vomit and coloured circles whizzing around everywhere.
Now, I'm guessing that as the creator, you didn't really want the player to travel outside the border in which the 'food' (as I'll call it) moves, right? So maybe the addition of a little coding that decreased your score slowly if you travelled outside the box.
Anyways, you could've fancied the graphics up, simply by adding a bit more detail to the enemies (give them evil faces + big teeth, whatever), making the food more desirable looking rather than a moving pile of goo, and perhaps a light background just to give the feel that you're playing a well-made game automatically, rather than having to figure it out for yourself :P

The fact that there was no audio wasn't too bad, as this game didn't really need it, but I do have one suggestion. Because the shape of the 'food' wasn't totally solid, sometimes you would hover around the outsides (thinking that you were on it) without your score increasing. My suggestion would be that you insterted perhaps a small humming sound (nothing annoying, hopefully) when the mouse was on the food, to let you know you were indeed gaining score.

The interactivity of this game was great, in my opinion. It starts off relatively easy, and a little annoying because you're wanting to piss the little circles off from hovering around you, and it gets a lot harder and ofcourse maxes out when you reach 1,000 points.
This was all well and good, and had me struck for my first few games when trying to maneuver myself around the playing field. Eventually it hit me - I was indeed controlling my enemies... apart from the crazy little circles who were just fucking mad and all over the place :P So strategy came into this game, too, which was excellent for me, because it kept me thinking, and ultimately playing.

All in all, this game is excellent, and it's sad to see you haven't remade it in the 2.5 years since it was made. I'd encourage you (and hopefully your more expansive knowledge, by now) to enhance and re-make this game, as it is excellent and played often still to this day.
Great game dude, very nice work :D

Check above for the full response to my review (1st post on that page).

In addition to everything said in that post (I ran out of characters) I wanted to say that whilst you almost hand the question of what to do with the graphics to me, I'd like to know YOUR opinion.

(Mine is that everything should be totally abstract, but just have textures and shadows and stuff.)

But like I said, this really is one of the best reviews I've seen and thank you so much for giving such insight into your thoughts, your playing experience and a couple of the points you felt could be improved.

I give the review the following arbitrarily chosen title:

A Masterpiece of Encouragement.

{2006} Hitman

"Solid."

submission: {2006} Hitman
date: January 25, 2006

Pretty decent game so far, but it really could have used some touch ups. Overall this is pretty good - nice graphics, action, lots'a clicking and sound effects, but the gameplay need some improvement.
I think that the bikers should be a lot harder to hit (seems like I had a wide-shot shotgun), and they should do a lot more damage quicker - as well as the helicopter boss, that was a walk in the park.
I really liked the feel of the first room of the building, it gave me a sort of Time Crisis feeling, but with no challenge whatsoever. Make all the enemies start shooting rapidly after 3 seconds, so you will die if you don't kill them all in like 5 seconds or something, otherwise everyone will go through the game without attaining a scratch - as I did.
Also, the Boss... he needs to get a brain XD haha, come on, one shot kill? Not for the main objective of the game.
Keep working on the gameplay, everything else is good!

You've certainly got my vote XD haha, I really liked this little claymation. It started off a bit slow, but it was well worth the wait, I thought. Although - as you said - the quality was comprimised once converted for Flash, the graphics still looked pretty damn good. I really enjoyed all the colour and smooth movement throughout this... what did you use to create the look of blood all over the cardboard? That was very good.
Excellent music choice in my opinion, went really well with the mood of the movie overall. Great work!

"About twice as good as the pilot XD"

date: January 24, 2006

Hehe, man that was a hell of a lot of animation! Just out of curiosity, how many frames were in that? It sure did have a lot of action! Haha.
The graphics weren't stunning, but they weren't crappy looking at any stage. Considering the sheer quantity of this movie, it was well worth looking at in my opinion. The animation was also smooth, and never choppy.
The audio was pretty good, but the voices were a little crummy on the quality side (I guess there was a filesize issue with that, understandable). There was a lot of little funny bits included that really kept me interested through the minutes of violence, stuff like the disco ball and the beaver with the rocket launcher.
All in all, this was a fucking good first episode. You've definately put a lot of work into the trailer and this first installment, keep at it, it's well worth it.

Author's Response:

How many frames you say, i'll look at the detailed print out, which i got to try and squash the file size down, and then after i got bored of trying to understand all the numbers I just emailed it to Wade...19 times. ANYWAY, the number of frames is 5893... i think. Fucking confusing data report
